Songs Birds, At Home When Travelling
Olivia Newton-John is the kind of girl-next-door every fellow would be happy to have as a neighbour.
But Olivia’s wholesome image is not all it might be - she’s living with her manager, Lee Kramer, in a Malibu beach house in California, and there’s no sign of marriage on the way.
The 26 year old singer who has become a major singing star in America after becoming a chart regular in Britain has no intentions of getting married.
“We talk about it now and then,” she said in a recent interview in an American paper “but it frightens me.”
“it’s a big step. You don’t go into it, not being 100 percent certain. At least I wouldn’t, not with the family background I’ve got.”
“I’ve seen my parents, my sister and so many of my friends getting divorced. And I’m not ready for children yet.”
And with the present upward sweep of her career i the States, where she is in the million seller bracket, with a string of hits and awards of pop and country music worlds, Olivia isn’t about to sink into domestic obscurity.
“When I’m travelling I think how I’d love to be at home,” says the Welsh professor’s daughter, who began her career at 15 in Australia where her father had taken her at the age of five.
“But when I’m home a few weeks, I’m dying to do something. I enjoy singing, I really enjoy the work. And I’m not willing to stay at home at the moment, not permanently.”
“Once you’ve been a working girl, it’s very difficult just to be at home.”
