You're Still The One That I Want
Grease Duo Back On Song
THE years rock ‘n’ roll by just like Greased Lightnin’.
But 24 years on. Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta still make a good fist of re-creating the magic of Grease as they team up again in Hollywood to celebrate the film’s DVD release.
They belted out You’re The One That I Want, crooned Summer Nights with many of the original cast and even managed an action replay of their famous “love-shack” dance.
It was tougher for Travolta. Now ill, he has gained a few too many pounds to quite pull pull off his role of role of Brylcreemed Danny Zako, Zako, leader of the T-Birds.
But Aussie Olivia 54 today-looked stunningly ageless in her black leather jacket and could still almost pass for Sandy, the square schoolgirl who transforms into a sex kitten.
The pair’s lives have gone in different directions since Grease still the biggest money-spinning musical movie of all time after grossing more than £300million. Travolta, who’d made his name in Saturday Night Fever, went on to further fame in Pulp Fiction.
Olivia’s still singing but more importantly, has has beaten beaten breast cancer. Backstage in Hollywood she said wistfully: “There’s a magic in the film, in the music. If we could reproduce it again it would be wonderful.”
As Grease’s Rizzo would say, there are worse things you could do.
